Just out of transition and into some very heavy rain.

Great support being focused on here and it can really help make a race according to many of the top finishers.

Vamos means 'lets go' in Spanish so I guess it is same in Italain.

Wet conditions make for slippery conditions as this young athlete from New Zealand found out. The rider behind him was also a Kiwi and he went down as well.

Fortunately both were unscathed and were back o n their bikes as quickly as they got of.

Tony Dodds fromnew Zealand is a triathlete with a big future and had the quickest swim time of the day in a very fast 17:17mins.

Second place above left and at right 3rd to the Russian Vasiliev.

It was a great day to win in front of the home crowd.

This photo finish went to the Mexican by a nose.
